Kingsway Consulting has been named as an Association of Colleges Beacon Award winner after seeing off competition from other institutions across the country.
It is the third Beacon Award to be won by the college in the past four years, having previously picked up honours for its provision for 14 to 16 year olds and commitment to health and safety.
College principal Professor Roger Bennett was overwhelmed to receive such an accolade.
He said: “This is an excellent achievement by the college.
“For Kingsway Consulting Limited – within the college – it is a brilliant reward for their commitment and dedication in not only driving the employer engagement agenda forward, but also in blazing a trail.
“Kingsway Consulting’s business model and approach is world-class and its staff thoroughly deserve this fantastic award.”
The awards, which have been rewarding outstanding teaching and learning in further education colleges for 16 years, were announced at a ceremony hosted by comedienne and author Shappi Khorsandi at the Association of Colleges’ (AoC’s) annual conference in Birmingham on November 17th.
Prof Bennett and assistant principal Janice Keilthy attended the event and were thrilled to walk away with the award for employer engagement, which recognises exemplary practice in the development of provision that is responsive to the needs of employers.
“It is fabulous news for the college,” said Prof Bennett.
“Just over 2009, we have been given his prestigious national award, which is absolutely phenomenal.
“We are hosting a special black tie dinner event next week for all of our employers, which will be a very fitting and timely celebration.”
Kingsway Consulting Limited is seen as a one-stop-shop for providing training assistance and business support to local, national and international businesses.
The company prides itself on working closely with businesses to identify their training and education requirements.
Dame Patricia Morgan-Webb, chair of the AoC Beacon Awards, said “Beacon winners blaze a trail in finding new ways of doing things.
“They contribute to social justice and are instrumental in local economic and social regeneration, essential during these turbulent times.
“While the winners this year are located all across the UK, what they all share are the key trails of innovation, creativity, responsiveness and a collaborative approach.”
North Lindsey College will host a celebration event in the New Year and will be presented with the award by Kevin Brennan, MP, minister of state for further education, at a national presentation ceremony due to be held in Westminster in February.
